SACEP delegation engaged in a bilateral meeting with representatives from the UNEP's Global Partnership on Plastic Pollution and Marine Litter

During the Third session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-3) in Nairobi, Kenya, the SACEP delegation, led by Director General Ms. Rokeya Khaton, engaged in a bilateral meeting with representatives from the United Nations Environment Programme's Global Partnership on Plastic Pollution and Marine Litter (GPML). This meeting took place at the UNEP headquarters in Nairobi on November 15, 2023.

Notably, in 2020, SACEP-SAS assumed the role of the regional node under UNEP's Global Partnership on Marine Litter (GPML), overseeing the South Asia Seas Region and collaborating closely with GPML. During the recent bilateral meeting, both organizations expressed their mutual interest in continuing to collaborate in the future on areas of common interest, aiming to bring tangible benefits to the member states involved. The commitment to ongoing cooperation underscores the shared dedication to addressing marine litter and plastic pollution on a regional scale.
