On July 29th, 2024, the final Regional Block Grant (RBG) under the PLEASE project was officially signed at the SACEP Secretariat in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event was attended by representatives from Island Climate Initiative (ICI) Pvt Ltd, who received the second RBG for Sri Lanka, along with SACEP officials and the staff of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the PLEASE project. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the project's journey.
With the support of UNOPS, the PLEASE project has successfully completed the signing of 12 RBGs and 15 Innovation Grants. These accomplishments were made possible through the collaborative efforts and dedication of all member countries, under the guidance of the Director General of SACEP.
The signing ceremony was a celebratory occasion, showcasing the collective commitment to combating plastic pollution and promoting regional cooperation.
