PLEASE Grantee meeting & site visits: Bhutan & Nepal

During the SACEP Director General’s mission to Bhutan and Nepal, Mr. Norbu Wangchuk met the Regional Block Grantees (RBGs) and Innovation Grantees (IGs). On 14th December 2024, Bhutan Ecological Society, Greener Way, two Regional Block Grantees and Clean Bhutan, The Green Roads, and Eco Waste Solution, three Innovation Grantees gathered together at the Bhutan Ecological Society (BES) office.

Similarly, five Grantees (Bio Comp, CREASION Nepal; CIUD, IOE Tribhuvan University, and Doko Recyclers), and Technical Assistance implementing Consulting Firm (AVNI venture and Resource Advancement Team Joint venture) met at CREASION Nepal’s office on 20th December 2024.

The Grantees’ meeting was an opportunity to share the progress, discuss challenges, and plan sustainability after the completion of the PLEASE Project, as well as find synergies, complementarities, and potential for collaboration among Grantees.

During the interaction with Grantees, Mr. Norbu Wangchuk congratulated the grantees for successfully implementing the project. Mr. Wangchuk acclaimed the grantees for creating a momentum in the fight against plastic in their respective countries. He said projects like PLEASE is a refreshing departure from others as we are on the ground, tackling plastic waste on hands. He remarked PLEASE grantees as ambassadors to SACEP’s mission to end plastic pollution through PLEASE project activities in the country. Mr. Norbu wished each grantee for logical and successful completion of the project activities, and go beyond in planning to sustain, scale up, and synergize these PLEASE initiatives and impacts beyond.

Grantee meeting was concluded with site visits. The delegation visited Greener Way’s material Recovery Facility (MRF) Construction site at Memelakha, Thimphu, Bhutan, and Doko Recyclers’ MRF in Bhaktapur, Nepal.
