Global Nitrogen Challenge addressed in a high-level conference organized by INMS in Nairobi


Director General of SACEP and Senior Programme Officer of South Asian Seas Programme participated the ‘High Level Segment, of the Fourth Meeting of International Nitrogen Management System’ held at UN Environment Campus in Nairobi, Kenya from 29 April – 2 May 2019. The meeting addressed the Global Nitrogen Challenge and Nitrogen Management from the regional and international perspectives.

Director General of SACEP, Dr. Abas Basir chaired the Session tilted ‘Nitrogen Management in International Cooperation Frameworks’ in which the global nitrogen management from different perspectives were reviewed and discussed. In his introductory remarks, Dr. Basir highlighted the importance of coordination in nitrogen management and emphasized that “to have an effective nitrogen management mechanism and a coherent policy at the national, regional and global levels, we need to review the existing provisions for nitrogen management and extent of global and or regional mandates and then think on policies and conventions coordination.”

The meeting was ended on 2nd May 2019 with summarizing the INMS activities by Project Director and a concluding remark by SACEP Director General thanking Dr. Mark Sutton and his colleagues for their remarkable efforts on making the event successful and committed that SACEP will work closely with INMS family to meet our common goals.
