Director General of SACEP made a courtesy call on High Commissioner of Maldives for Sri Lanka


Dr. Md. Masumur Rahman, Director General together with Ms. Jacintha S. Tissera, Head of Chancery, Mr. W.K. Rathnadeera, Senior Programme Officer and Mr. Zammath Khaleel, Senior Programme Officer (Regional) of the South Asian Seas Programme paid a courtesy call on H.E. Omar Abdul Razzak, High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives for Sri Lanka on 26th October 2021.

While congratulating Dr. Md Masumur Rahman for his new tenure at SACEP, H.E. Omar Abdul Razzak assured the continued support towards SACEP endeavours. The discussion between the two dignitaries was focused on fair use of fertilizer, Sustainable Nitrogen Management, minimization of Greenhouse gas and the invention of Hydrogen as a source of renewable energy.

Dr. Md Masumur Rahman briefed on the ongoing activities of the SACEP and the main focus was on the implementation of The World Bank funded project titled ‘Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia (PLEASE)’.

The deliberations were also on the scheduled Meeting of the Environment Ministers to be held on 4th November 2021 and the Side Event to be held 03rd November 2021 in collaboration with Government of Sri Lanka at the UNFCCC COP26 venue under the aegis of SACEP.
