Air pollution is a severe problem across South Asia, especially in the region around the Indo-Gangetic Plain. This shared issue demands a transboundary collaborative approach, including a regional network of specialists working on various aspects of air pollution and knowledge sharing for optimal and broad scale results that benefit all.
Dr. Md. Masumur Rahman, Director General of SACEP, participated virtually in a workshop organized by The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in collaboration with the U.S. State Department “Two Punjabs, One Atmosphere” on 03 February 2022 and delivered a comprehensive presentation on “Regional Co-operation in South Asia for Improved Air Quality” highlighting the need to reinforce the measures to reduce air pollution and to mitigate the adverse effects of air pollution on the environment, human health and economy across the region. Also, he highlighted the commitment of SACEP to working with all NFPs and development partners to tackle and address this transboundary issue in the region.
