SACEP is working with its member countries to develop South Asia waste management framework policy


SACEP in collaboration with IGES Centre Collaborating with UNEP on Environmental Technologies (CCET) and with the support of Government of Bangladesh and Japan, conducted the ‘Second Sub-Regional workshop on Preparation of status Report and sub-regional Roadmap for Implementing the Global Waste Management Goals toward Addressing SDGS in South Asia’ on 15-16 July 2019, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The second regional workshop is conducted after successfully concluding the First Regional workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal in March this year. The workshop started its work with the inaugural speech by Honorable Md. Shahab Uddin, Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Bangladesh, followed by welcome address presented by Dr. Abas Basir, Director General of SACEP, and speech by Director of CCET, and high level officials from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Bangladesh. All speakers highlighted the importance of waste management and appreciated SACEP initiative on developing South Asia waste management framework policy.
