High Level Ministerial Meeting of SACEP member states took place at COP 27 venue in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt on 9 November 2022 in Bangladesh Pavilion. Mr. Md Shahabudin Ahmed, MP, Hon'ble Minister, Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change of Bangladesh and Chairman of the Governing Council of SACEP chaired the meeting.
Senator Ms. Sherry Rehman, Minister, Ministry of Climate Change of Pakistan, Hon'ble Naseer Ahamed, Minister, Ministry of Environment of Sri Lanka, Hon'ble Uma Regmi, Minister, Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens of Nepal, Ms. Habibunnahar MP, Deputy Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change of Bangladesh, Dr. Pem Narayan Kendall, Environment Secretary of Nepal, Mr. Sonam representative of Bhutan, Mr Nitesh Kumar, Representative of India, Maldives, Mr Donald Cooper, Director, UNFCCC and other distinguished guests were present in the meeting. SACEP delegation meet with the Hon'ble Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Environment Forests and Climate Change of India and H.E. Aminath Shauna, Maldives’ Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology.
Hon'ble Ministers and Secretaries have delivered their valuable speech and showed their commitment to work together in future on common issues of Climate Change and environment in the South Asia region.
They have appreciated SACEP's ongoing activities and rendered thanks to Dr. Masumur Rahman, Director General of SACEP for organising this High-level Ministerial meeting in COP 27 venue.
They have discussed about the common issues of Climate Change in South Asia region and committed to work together combating the challenges of CC on SACEP's platform. Dr Farhina Ahmed Secretary, Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change of Bangladesh has delivered the concluding remarks and Dr Masumur Rahman, DG-SACEP moderate the meeting.
