Maldives National Stakeholder Consultation meeting on Plastic Free Rivers and Seas of South Asia Project


The stakeholder consultation meeting on Plastic Free Rivers and Seas of South Asia Project was held on 19th January 2020 in Male’, Maldives back to back with the Maldives national level stakeholder consultation on solid waste management policy. The Plastic Free Rivers and Seas of South Asia Project is a World Bank funded project and SACEP is the implementing agency. The meeting was inaugurated by the Hon’ Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan, Minister of Environment, Maldives. Dr. Abas Basir, Director General of SACEP and Ms. Karin Shepardson, Programme Manager/Lead Environmental Specialists of World Bank also shared their thoughts during the inaugural session. Various stakeholders including government, private sector, Civil Society, Hoteliers, NGOs were participated at this one-day consultation meeting. During the consultation Participants were able to identify possible Stakeholder Groups, Stakeholder in each group, other interested parties, ongoing complementary activities, priority areas, etc.
