On February 23, 2023, a delegation from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) followed by Dr. Dindo Campilan, Regional Director, Asia and Hub Director for Oceania, Mr. Anshuman Saikia, Coordinator, Regional Portfolio Management and Officer-in-Charge Sri Lanka Country Office and Dr. Shamen Vidanage, Country Representative, IUCN Sri Lanka met with the Dr. Md Masumur Rahman, Director General of the South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP) at the SACEP Secretariat. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the ongoing activities of SACEP regarding biodiversity conservation.
During the meeting, the IUCN delegation and the Director General exchanged information and ideas about SACEP's current efforts to promote the protection and preservation of biodiversity in South Asia. The meeting served as an opportunity for both parties to share their expertise and experiences, and to explore potential avenues for collaboration in the future.
