Ms. Swati Singh Sambyal, expert, Waste and Marine Litter Programme at GRID-Arendal, met with the Director General of SACEP, Ms. Rokeya Khaton, and her team to discuss ongoing and future initiatives in Sri Lanka and the region. GRID-Arendal, an organization established by the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment, collaborates closely with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other international partners to promote environmentally sustainable development.
During the meeting, Ms. Sambyal highlighted GRID-Arendal’s collaborative efforts with the Central Environmental Authority of Sri Lanka and IUCN on projects focused on tackling plastics and biodiversity challenges. In turn, the Director General of SACEP provided an overview of the organization’s past and current work in these areas. Both SACEP and GRID-Arendal expressed a shared interest in strengthening their partnership and working together on projects of mutual interest.
