The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) - Regional Office for Asia and Pacific, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia-Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) - Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, organised the intergovernmental organization meeting on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region as part of the commemoration of the UN Day for South - South Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific on 14 September 2021, from 09:30 to 12:00 hours, Bangkok time.
Dr. Md. Masumur Rahman, SACEP Director General, delivered a comprehensive presentation, on Climate Change and Green Development in the South Asia region highlighting the need to achieve a sustainable and green recovery, policies and investments towards a greener and circular economy across the region. In his presentation he emphasized the commitment of SACEP in supporting its member countries to implement their green recovery pathways and the need for regional cooperation, adopting a collective solution to the climate crisis in the region. He also highlighted that the current pandemic situations, collaborations such as South-South Cooperation are now more important than ever and the effort should be made for notable collective contribution to the implementation of the Paris Agreement targets, as well as in preparing for a results-driven COP26.
