Director General of SACEP and Director General of ICRAF attended a meeting

Dr. Md Masumur Rahman Director General, South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP) and Tony Saimun, Director General of World Agroforestry Center (International Council for Research in Agroforestry, ICRAF) attended a meeting in the World Agroforestry Center at Nirobi, Kenya on 3rd March 2022.

Senior officials from the both sides of SACEP and World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) were present there. SACEP and ICRAF promised to follow up on those conversations took placed in the meeting, so that they could move to exploring the potential of partnerships with SACEP, ICRAF and CIFOR in the following possible areas:

1. Developing a joint agroforestry program in South Asia and possibilities of supporting knowledge exchange and access as well as more ambitious programs, particularly within the framework of conducive policies;
2. Exploring collaboration around Blue Carbon within the context of the Blue Economy in South Asia and
3. The possibility of being hosted a new office complex in Havelock City, Colombo, Sri Lanka by SACEP.
Finally, the both Director General Dr Rahman and Tony Saimun agreed to work together in future for the betterment of Agroforestry system in South Asia region.
