The 134th Meeting of the Consultative Committee (CC) of SACEP was held on 09 June 2022 at the Secretariat.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Chairman of the Consultative Committee, H. E. Tareq Md Ariful Islam, High Commissioner, High Commission of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Dr. Sushil Kumar, First Secretary (Technical Cooperation and Head of Chancery), High Commission of the Republic of India, Ms. Maryam Zahir, Second Secretary, High Commission of the Republic of Maldives, Mr. Balakrishna Bhandari, Diplomatic Officer, Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Mr. Tanvir Ahmed, Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Md. Masumur Rahman, Director General, SACEP and the Secretary to the Consultative Committee Meeting.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Government of Sri Lanka and the Chairman of CC-SACEP.
Most importantly, SACEP signed an agreement with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to support SACEP in implementation of the World Bank funded and co-financed by the PARLEY for the Oceans, ‘Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia’ (PLEASE) Project.
Dr. Md. Masumur Rahman, Director General welcomed and thanked the Chairman and the members of the Consultative Committee for the continued support extended to SACEP for implementation of its Governing Council decisions.
